Accessible Periodic Table Recognized At ACS Awards
At the American Chemical Society’s 22nd Annual ChemLuminary Awards, held virtually on Wednesday, December 9, 2020, the Midland Section of the American Chemical Society was honored with the Chemists with Disabilities Inclusion Award.
This year’s awards theme, “2020 Focus on Our Volunteers: Moving Chemistry Forward,” honored the work of volunteers from local sections of the ACS.
The Chemists with Disabilities Inclusion Award was presented to the Midland Section for the innovative development of an accessible periodic table designed with braille and sign language; 3-D printed onto every element tile.
The accessible periodic table was made possible through a collaborative effort between MSU St. Andrews, the Midland Section of the American Chemical Society, and the ACS Chemists with Disabilities with support from the Dow Chemical Company.
