Events & Workshops

Astronomy

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, our astronomy events are currently held virtually via Zoom. Please visit the Family Astronomy Night page for complete details. We hope to resume in-person programming as soon as possible.

Family stargazing nights and daytime solar viewing events are offered approximately every six to eight weeks. Participants learn how to find and identify bright stars and constellations by name; gain an understanding of lunar phases and geography; view planets and their corresponding moons; and learn how to safely view the sun, during opportune times of the year.

A number of telescopes are available for sharing and participants are also encouraged to bring their own binoculars for naked-eye viewing. Visit the events calendar and the St. Andrews Facebook for upcoming dates or information on weather cancellations. These events are recommended for children of upper elementary age (and older) and their families, but all ages are welcome.

3D Printing

3D printing workshops for youth are offered on request. Previous groups have included scouts, homeschool clubs, STEM clubs, and others. Students are introduced to design concepts using computer-aided design (CAD) software, as well as materials science while using state-of-the-art equipment.
