Tracy Zhang, MSU St. Andrews faculty, and outreach specialist, conducted polymeric materials research at the Michigan Molecular Institute in Midland, Mich., for more than 10 years before joining Michigan State University. Her current role involves promoting STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education to K-12 students and conducting research in the development of biosourced hyperbranched poly(ester)s for the controlled release of actives across a range of applications.
She earned a doctorate in advanced materials from Central Michigan University, focusing on polymer science. She has authored numerous publications, has earned several patents, and regularly presents papers at national meetings of the American Chemical Society and the North American Thermal Analysis Society (NATAS).
A native of China, Zhang completed her undergraduate studies in chemistry at Nanchang University and earned a master’s degree in computer science from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She worked in IT at Gold Eagle Company and taught computer science courses at Robert Morris University in Chicago.
