At Michigan State University, we are proud to push the boundaries of exploratory and development chemistry from our historic facility in Midland, Michigan, once home to the renowned Michigan Molecular Institute (MMI). For nearly 45 years, MMI set the standard in applied research in polymer science and technology. Although MMI ceased operations in 2015, its legacy continues to inspire our commitment to innovation and excellence.
MSU St. Andrews embodies the university's enduring dedication to research, teaching, and community outreach. Our pioneering chemistry initiatives drive advancements that bolster economic vitality across the region and the state. Beyond the research bench, we nurture the next generation of innovators by providing hands-on learning experiences for students, families, and educators.
Our STEAM education center transforms abstract concepts into immersive, tangible experiences. Through interactive exhibits, workshops, and community events, we empower learners of all ages to explore the wonders of science and technology. This approach not only enriches classroom instruction but also builds strong community bonds by creating shared spaces for discovery and dialogue.
The success of our programs is made possible through the generous support of local organizations. We are deeply grateful to the Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow Foundation, the Rollin M. Gerstacker Foundation, the Charles J. Strosacker Foundation, and the Dow Chemical Company Foundation. Their steadfast financial and community support plays a critical role in advancing scientific education and innovation in our region.
